Cricket – A love of the game

Phil is not a sportsman but thanks to his father and grandfather he enjoys on a sunny day the opportunity to sit and watch cricket being played. Between 1990 and 1999 he was the Hampshire Schools’ Cricket Association secretary and represented the county at West of England Cricket Association Meetings. During this period the West of England was at the forefront of the campaign to see softball Kwik Cricket played by girls in schools and the first girls schools’ cricket tournament was played at Kings College, Taunton in the mid 1990’s.

The photo displayed on this page is of Phil in 2002 stood alongside pupils from St John the Baptist Primary School who had just won the West of England Girls U-11 Softball Cricket Trophy.
