EMG Tip of the Week – Mentor’s Matter
Successful teachers seek out mentors of their own

Mentors can be that voice that says, “Yes your reflections are correct,” or “No, you are off because….” and provide you with a different perspective. Being able to see things from a different perspective and make sure that the level of reaction is appropriate as well only comes with experience. Sometimes we respond in a way that actually needs a cool, calm and collected approach – knowing where something is on a rating scale from 1 to 10 where 10 equals death. Mentors are important to help direct, to help correct and help encourage us on our own professional journey. Everyone needs mentors – choose carefully.
