History around us – Understanding the Past

Like many other keen historians Phil has traced his family tree back to the early 1600’s. His interest in genealogy dates back to when he was invited to promote the 2011 Census project which was funded by the South East Grid for Learning and supported by The National Archives and Find My Past.

At the end of the 2011 Census project, he was then invited with Stewart Ross the popular children’s author, to coordinate The World War I project – Research a local hero. Together they hosted over 30 educational workshops for over 1500 pupils in Hampshire, West Sussex and Surrey schools.
